This has to be the biggest transfer of the summer.. yet! Real Madrid’s top scorer and their main talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo, has agreed to join Juventus for a fee worth a little more than €100 million. The Serie A champions took advantage of the opportunity after the Portuguese captain indicated that he was considering leaving Madrid after their Champions League final victory over Liverpool in May.

Ronaldo is said to have agreed to a four-year contract that will see him pocket €30 million (£26.5m/$35m) per season and Madrid have since confirmed that they have allowed him to make the move to Turin in a transfer that will cost €100m (£88m/$117m) plus €12m (£10.5/$14m) in additional charges.

Ronaldo, 33, reached global superstar status at Manchester United and become the world’s most expensive player when he joined Madrid from Manchester United in 2009. Since then he has won 15 trophies with Real Madrid, including 2 La Liga titles, 4 Champions League and 2 Copa Del Rey titles.

This transfer has rocked the world of football and is a jackpot for the Italian football. Ronaldo is the biggest brand in football and he will definitely bring in a lot of goals and increased finance in Italy as a whole.

Ronaldo has impressive, if not the best, statistics so far in his career. He has 360 goals in 343 matches for Real Madrid and he’s the all-time leading scorer in the Champions League with 116 strikes; 19 more than his Barcelona counterpart Lionel Messi.

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has all positives to say about Ronaldo and is sure to consider his team ready to challenge for the long waited Champions League title that they are chasing.

“He is the best striker in the World,” Allegri said in interview after their clash back in April, “he has slightly changed his style of playing – becoming a pure striker. We can only congratulate with him for what he did. His coolness in front of goal and his capacity for scoring goals is just extra ordinary.

The social media has gone crazy over this transfer news with Ronaldo’s Madrid teammates among the firsts to take the opportunity to thank him for all the work he has put in for the team.

It will be exciting to see how he fares out for Juventus. Ronaldo and Juventus play the first game in a pre-season friendly tournament against Bayern Munich on 07/28.
