After Sampaoli wished to continue being the boss of Argentina’s national team, there were many rumors that he would still be sacked. The reasons behind this are clear.

Sampaoli led a disorganized side in the tournament and had some shocking decisions. The players seemed like they didn’t know how they should be playing and the constant changing of formations didn’t help. Sampaoli has fielded 15 different lineups in the 15 different games where he was in charge of Argentina.

Sampaoli left out players like Mauro Icardi, Lautaro Martinez, Leandro Paredes, Ezequiel Garay, Santiago Ascasibar, Matias Kranevitter, Walter Kanneman and so on. Lo Celso and Dybala were called up but they barely played in the tournament.

Argentina’s media and Argentine people are mad about Sampaoli’s decisions and are asking the federation to sack him. The only problem is the Argentina Football Federation should pay 20 million euros to Sampaoli if they decide to sack him. The solution would be the mutual understanding to part ways.

If Sampaoli is sacked, these are the the options proposed by the Argentine media: Marcelo Gallardo, Cholo Simeone and Ricardo Gareca.

Marcelo Gallardo is at the moment the coach of Argentine giants River Plate. He played once under El Loco” Bielsa and he is the coach that has the most influence on Gallardo’s career. Gallardo also like Pep Guardiola’s coaching. He is a possibility for Argentina as he likes to take on big challenges.

We all know Cholo Simeone. He has done wonders with the Atletico team. He has won two Europa League cups, he was twice in the Champions League final and he won 1 LaLiga title leaving behind Barcelona and Real Madrid. His teams play a lot different football than all the other possibilities. Maybe Simeone’s way is the best way to play for Argentina. After all Sabella almost won the World Cup in 2014 with a similar style. However, even though Simeone expressed his wish to coach the Argentina national team some day it is hard to see that happening right now because of his job at Atletico.

Ricardo Gareca is at the moment the coach of Peru. Peru did not have a successful World Cup campaign but they deserved a lot more. They played a great attacking football against every team they faced and they missed too many chances. Gareca is called “El Tigre” and he seems to have the character needed to lead

La Seleccion Albiceleste

If Argentina plans to change the coach, they should do it quickly. If they don’t manage to find a more suitable solution than Sampaoli they should replace him just for the sake of it. Argentina now need more stability than ever and they wouldn’t get that if they continue changing football styles and coaches.
