With yesterday’s win in the final the legendary former player and current coach of the French national team made history. Didier Deschamps became the first man to win the World Cup trophy as a captain and as a coach!

He is also the third man to win it as a player and as a coach. The previous two were the Brazilian Mario Gazallo and the German legend Franz Beckenbauer.

He fielded his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation in every game except the opening match against Australia when France played in a 4-3-3. He was criticized for playing Giroud and Matuidi in every game, but at the end he won the trophy winning 6 games and drawing only once.

During the press-conference he was interrupted by his players chanting his name.
