It seems that N’Golo Kante just keeps on getting better. He was the vital member of Leicester’s and Chelsea’s Premier League winning teams and now he is a key player for his national team.

Actually, the bookmakers give him chances for even winning the golden ball of the tournament. He has played all 5 games for France until now and he’s done a great job.

He is one of the passers of the tournament, having completed 276 passes until now. He has also made amazing 52 recoveries of the ball. Kante is the reason why Mbappe and Griezmann can attack without worrying about the space left behind them.

Kante was criticized in the past that he can’t control the game with passing, but obviously he got better in that section too. He isn’t just the man that marks the opposing attackers. The stats show that he can add a lot more than that.

According to Football-IQ, these were his stats in the previous season. Take into consideration that he also had some injury problems, but he still has amazing numbers.

In his defensive chart, you can notice that his workrate is great. He was one of the best players in the league in winning scrap contests, defensive contests and his defending high game is very strong. You wouldn’t find a defensive chart that looks like this at many other player profiles.

Maybe it isn’t a surprise that his defensive stats are amazing, but look at this. He delivered fantastic numbers in almost every passing section in the previous season. He is a defensive midfielder, so it is expected that he doesn’t have big numbers in the assist section, but in all the other areas he is one of the best.

He is a defensive midfielder whose main responsibility is to stop the opposing team’s attacks. Yet, he hasn’t received a single yellow card in this tournament. He has only committed 7 fouls in 5 games. On the other side, he was one of the best passers too.

France are enjoying the best version of N’Golo Kante. With performances like these, he should easily get a place in the team of the tournament and be one of the contenders for the player of the tournament award.

Kante deserves better than playing in the Europa League next year, so maybe a big club could try to take him from Chelsea.
